Are We Living Up to “Art Impacts Everyone”?
At Impact Arts Council, we often say “Art impacts everyone”—but that phrase is more than just a slogan. It’s a challenge, a promise, and a guiding principle. Since our founding in September 2024, we've asked ourselves not just how to bring art to our communities, but how to ensure everyone—regardless of age, ability, or background—feels seen, included, and inspired through the arts.
In just under a year, we’ve made bold strides toward living up to our mission. We launched with our first Artist Market, providing a platform for local creatives to showcase and sell their work. We followed that with a vibrant Children’s Art Festival, where young minds explored creativity through hands-on activities, performances, and interactive exhibits.
We’ve also expanded our reach to often-overlooked members of our community. We are currently partnering with five senior centers across North Jefferson County to provide ongoing arts programming—everything from painting and crafts to music and storytelling. These programs not only bring joy and stimulation to our older residents but also foster intergenerational connection and expression.
Looking ahead to the 2025-2026 school year, we’re proud to begin a new partnership with the Burkett Center, a school that serves students with severe disabilities. Through this collaboration, we’ll introduce accessible and inclusive arts activities that celebrate each child’s unique perspective and potential.
We’ve also begun laying the groundwork for programming that reaches our veteran community—exploring how the arts can serve as a pathway for healing, connection, and purpose for those who have served.
None of this would be possible without the incredible support from local governments, civic organizations, and small businesses that share our belief in the transformative power of the arts. Their collaboration has allowed us to stretch our reach, deepen our impact, and build a stronger, more connected North Jefferson County.
So, are we living up to our mantra? We believe we’re well on our way. But our work is just beginning. Every mural painted, poem shared, or song performed is another step toward a more vibrant, inclusive, and creative future. We’re committed to finding more ways—big and small—to ensure that art truly does impact everyone.
We’re grateful to walk this journey with you.
