Art for All & Music for All at the Burkett Center

About the Programs

Art for All and Music for All are inclusive arts education programs offered by Impact Arts Council at the Burkett Center. These programs are designed to ensure that every student has meaningful access to high-quality visual art and music experiences, regardless of ability, background, or learning style.

Through hands-on instruction, creative exploration, and consistent community support, Art for All and Music for All use the arts as a tool for communication, confidence-building, and joyful learning.

Program Overview

  • Art for All provides adaptive, process-based visual arts instruction that encourages self-expression, fine motor development, and creative problem-solving.

  • Music for All offers interactive music experiences that support rhythm, listening, movement, and emotional regulation through sound and song.

Programs are delivered through weekly sessions led by professional teaching artists and supported by trained volunteers. Instruction is tailored to meet students where they are, honoring each learner’s unique strengths and creative voice.

Program Goals

  • Expand equitable access to arts education

  • Support social-emotional learning through creative expression

  • Foster communication and engagement using visual art and music

  • Provide consistent, high-quality arts experiences in a supportive environment

  • Strengthen partnerships between artists, educators, and the community

Community Impact

Art for All and Music for All directly support students at the Burkett Center while strengthening the broader North Jefferson County arts ecosystem. These programs:

  • Provide consistent arts access for students who may not otherwise receive formal art or music instruction

  • Create meaningful opportunities for teaching artists and community volunteers

  • Build stronger connections between families, schools, and local arts organizations

Art impacts everyone, and these programs ensure that students at the Burkett Center are not left out of the creative conversation.

This project has been made possible by grants from Alabama State Council on the Arts.
