More Than a Festival: Why the Impact Book Festival Matters
There’s something powerful about the way stories bring people together.
Across generations, backgrounds, and experiences, stories create connection—and that sense of connection is exactly what the Impact Book Festival is designed to foster.
On Saturday, April 18, Impact Arts Council will host the second annual Impact Book Festival at the Fultondale Event Center, welcoming readers, writers, families, and community members for a day centered around creativity and the written word.
What began as a vision to connect authors and readers in North Jefferson County continues to grow.
Last year, the festival welcomed more than 55 regional authors and vendors. This year, the event expands to include over 60 authors representing a wide range of genres—from children’s books to horror and everything in between—alongside local vendors. Whether you’re discovering a new favorite author, meeting a local writer, or simply enjoying a day surrounded by books, there’s something for everyone.
Throughout the day, guests can explore author talks, panel discussions, and book signings, while browsing local vendors and visiting a dedicated children’s area designed to engage younger readers through interactive activities and storytelling.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to hear from featured speakers including Robert McCammon, Charles Ghigna, and Kerry Madden-Lunsford, offering a diverse range of perspectives and experiences.
The Impact Book Festival is rooted in a larger purpose.
It supports literacy, highlights local and regional authors, and creates space for meaningful cultural experiences within our community. By bringing readers, writers, and families into the same space, the festival encourages a deeper appreciation for the written word and the voices behind it.
You might see a child flipping through a book and discovering a new favorite story, or a reader waiting in line to meet an author whose words have stayed with them. These are the moments that make the festival meaningful.
Led by Impact Arts Council and Director of the Impact Book Festival, Matt Weber, this event reflects a shared commitment to strengthening our community through the arts—because we believe that Art Impacts Everyone.
