Summer Should Leave Space for Creativity

There is something special about watching a child completely disappear into making something.

Paint on their hands. A table covered in supplies. Excited stories about what they are working on and why they chose purple because “purple felt happy.” Time seems to slow down a little when children are given room to follow their ideas wherever they want them to go.

Those moments matter.

At Impact Arts Council, we believe what happens during the process can be just as meaningful as what comes home at the end of the day. Trying something new. Solving problems. Making choices. Discovering that an idea in your head can become something real in your hands.

That is why we are excited to introduce our Impact Creative Club.

This June and July, children ages 2–12 are invited to join us for four-week hands-on art sessions designed to spark curiosity, encourage self-expression, and provide a welcoming place where imagination can take the lead.

Each group is designed with different ages and stages in mind:

Tiny Creators (Ages 2–3)

Our youngest participants will enjoy sensory play, movement, storytelling, music, and simple art activities designed for little hands and curious minds. Adult helpers are required.

Young Creators (Ages 4–6)

Children will explore painting, mixed media projects, imaginative activities, and a variety of hands-on projects.

Creative Explorers (Ages 7–12)

Older participants will dive into drawing, painting, sculpture, collaborative projects, and experimenting with different materials and techniques.

Classes will take place at The T Shed in Morris on Tuesdays throughout June and July, with one-hour sessions each week over four weeks, giving young artists dedicated time to learn new skills, try new things, and enjoy the creative process.

At Impact Arts Council, we believe the arts help build more than artistic skills. Through hands-on projects, problem solving, experimenting, and learning new techniques, children are developing confidence, strengthening creativity, and finding new ways to express themselves. They are learning skills while also learning something equally important: that their ideas have value.

There is something meaningful about hearing, “Look what I made!” and then listening as they tell you all about it. Why they chose certain colors. The excitement of sharing the story behind it.

Confidence grows when children are given the freedom to try something new. Connection happens through shared experiences. Joy comes from seeing imagination come to life.

Those are the moments that stay with us. The memories, the intention, and the magic found in the creative process.

This summer, we are excited to provide a place where curiosity, connection, and imagination can flourish.

Registration is now open and spots are limited.

Because Art Impacts Everyone.
