Board of Directors Application
Thank you for your interest in serving on the Impact Arts Council Board of Directors. Impact Arts Council connects people of all ages and abilities to arts education, entertainment, and community engagement opportunities in North Jefferson County, Alabama. As a small, active nonprofit with a five-member Board, each Director plays an important role in governance, advocacy, financial stewardship, fundraising, and community representation.
Board Service at a Glance
Term of Service: Board members serve three-year terms and may serve for a maximum of six years. After six years, a member must vacate office for at least one year. A Director elected to fill a vacancy completes the unexpired term.
Board Meetings: The Board meets monthly, with meetings held in person and/or online. Regular attendance and active participation are expected. In accordance with the bylaws, failure of a Director to attend three (3) regularly scheduled meetings within a period of twelve months shall be grounds for being asked to resign.
Financial Support: Each Board member is responsible for making an annual personal financial contribution to Impact Arts Council.
Community Representation: Board members are expected to attend Impact Arts Council functions and represent the organization at selected events, exhibitions, meetings, and community gatherings.
Fundraising and Advocacy: Board members are expected to actively support fundraising and help strengthen community relationships through activities appropriate to their skills and connections.
Additional Service: Because Impact Arts Council has a small Board, members may be asked to take responsibility for specific projects or areas of work based on their interests, expertise, and availability. Hands-on assistance with programs and events is welcomed but is not required beyond expectations for attendance and representation.
