The Impact Arts Council Student Advisory Board gives high school students the opportunity to take an active role in the arts in our community through leadership, social media, community events, and service.

Open to students in grades 10–12.

What Is the Student Advisory Board?

The Impact Arts Council Student Advisory Board is a group of 4–6 high school students who help shape how Impact Arts Council connects with teens and young adults in our community.

Members share their ideas and perspectives on programs, events, outreach, and social media while gaining hands-on leadership experience through Impact Arts Council's community events and activities.

This isn't just an advisory role—you'll have opportunities to create, lead, serve, and help make the arts more accessible and engaging for other young people in our community.

What You'll Do

As a Student Advisory Board member, you'll have real responsibilities and opportunities to make an impact throughout the year.

Create & Share
Curate at least one social media post each month for Impact Arts Council and help us share programs, events, artists, and opportunities from a student perspective.

Support Local Artists
Serve as an artist assistant at the Impact Artist Market, helping artists with setup, breakdown, and other needs throughout the event.

Welcome Our Community
Serve as a host at the Impact Book Festival, helping authors and visitors with information, directions, and support throughout the day.

Lead an Art Activity
Plan and run your own art activity booth at the Impact Arts Festival. You'll develop your activity with IAC and recruit additional volunteers to help you make it happen.

Share Your Voice
Attend monthly Student Advisory Board meetings and give your perspective on programs, events, social media, outreach, volunteer opportunities, and ways IAC can better connect with young people.

What You'll Gain

As a member, you'll receive:

  • A certificate recognizing your completed term of service

  • Eligibility for a letter of recommendation from Impact Arts Council upon successful completion of your term

  • Potential opportunities for future internships or expanded roles with Impact Arts Council after high school

Most importantly, you'll have a voice in helping Impact Arts Council create opportunities that young people actually want to be part of.

Before You Apply

The Student Advisory Board is a working leadership opportunity, and members are expected to actively participate throughout their term.

Before applying, make sure you're able to:

  • Attend monthly Student Advisory Board meetings

  • Stay in communication through the board's GroupMe

  • Complete your monthly social media contribution

  • Participate in the Impact Artist Market, Impact Book Festival, and Impact Arts Festival

  • Follow through on the responsibilities you accept

  • Represent Impact Arts Council in a respectful, responsible, and inclusive way

We understand that schedules and circumstances can change. If you're unable to complete your term, you're welcome to step away and apply again in a future year.

Who Can Apply?

The Student Advisory Board is open to students in grades 10–12 who are interested in leadership, creativity, social media, community involvement, volunteering, or the arts.

You do not have to be an artist to apply. We're looking for students who are dependable, willing to contribute their ideas, comfortable working with others, and ready to take an active role in their community.

The Student Advisory Board is limited to 4–6 members.

2026–27 Founding Board Term: Upon selection through May 31, 2027
Future Terms: August 1–May 31
Meetings: Monthly

Members may apply to serve consecutive terms as long as they remain eligible.
