Some of the most meaningful moments in our work at the Burkett Center happen in the classroom: a student lighting up when we walk through the door, the smile that comes when a sensory need is understood and supported, or the excitement of a student eager to connect.
These moments remind us why Art for All and Music for All matter. Through these programs, students explore art and music, express themselves, and connect with others in ways that work for them. Everyone deserves the chance to experience the arts and feel included.
We want families to feel that same welcome at Impact Arts Council events. We hope each person knows there is space for them and a way to participate that feels right.
Impact Arts Council received a $2,000 grant through the Support the Arts License Plate Grant Program for our sensory friendly arts access initiative. This support will help us continue working to make our events more welcoming for people with diverse sensory needs. We are grateful for the opportunity to keep learning and make more arts experiences accessible across North Jefferson County.
Want to support the arts across Alabama? Ask for a Support the Arts license plate at your county vehicle licensing office when you renew your registration. The plate has an additional annual fee of $50, plus regular registration fees. Learn more about the Support the Arts plate.
Every person deserves the opportunity to experience the creativity, connection, and joy the arts can bring. We are thankful to everyone helping make that possible.
